WEAR IT WITH PRIDE
this website is all about badges. you may know them as buttons or pins but you know them. indie rock staples of fashion, the badges on this site are broken down into two categories: retro and modern. retro badges are rare and unique badges that are in limited supply that you can purchase to add to you collection. the modern section is where this site shines. much like Threadless.com, users are encouraged to create badge designs and upload them to the site where they get voted on and eventually [with enough votes] get produced into real badges that you can purchase.
mentioning Threadless.com reminds me that they are doing a $1,000 competition now with a crazy assortment of prizes. i suggest you get on this quick before its over. get all the info on the contest here.

Neurotic Fishbowl: Burn It - The Fall Edition
burn it is back again this fall for another mix cd swap. i love the idea and was psyched to participate in the summers swap session but i was totally dissappointed. i only got 1 mix cd back. and it wasnt any music i liked. but i was willing to listen to it. im not dissappointed because i didnt like it, i am dissappointed that i burned cds for these other people and only one person decided to send one back. if i got 3 cds i didnt like, at least i got 3 cds. so check it out but beware because you may come out empty handed.
yeah it looks like i am slacking but i have been trying to get a new host and it is in the transfer process now. so soon i shall have everything swicthed over and rocking. everything should be set within the next week or so. also i am trasfering the domain so no need to pay anymind to the kicks-ass.net domains. everything will hopefully run off of www.ersdesigns.com if all goes well. and just for info sake i am getting a host from Jaguar PC. they have some great set ups there. big ups to Matt for the reference.
so bear with me and we will be smooth as silk. and ps go see k ill bill. its great.
Visual Vocabulary
this here site highlights the photography work of John Marder and put together by his in house web designer Matt.
this site has some promising work. i am kind of biased because i have met both of these guys in person and have seen some work that isnt on the site yet but after checking out the site and pouring through most of the image archive i can honestly say that i am inpressed. there needs to be more work on there though. actually i realize what makes me feel this. its not the amount of work but the organization of the images. there are 5 main categories and each has sub categories. so it is more of an effort to see everything. id like to see this worked out a bit better. some of these images are holy shit amazing but then the next image in a different category feels like someones photo album. im not making great sense but some images look very professional like the portraits and the live music photos and even the structural set. but then others that are mixed in feel more casual and snap shot like. its not bad its just that it breaks up the momentum.
i do have to say i really enjoy the polaroids section. but again i think the delivery is a bit off. you can see thumbnails of the latest 3 days of polaroids and then you have a link to archives after that. its a great idea but id rather be able to skip though all of them instead of having to click and close each one. i feel like i am jumping the gun on a actual review since the site has been going through many changes but i really felt these guys needed some exposure. after all i said before i want to underline that i think the mix of "arty" photos and casual or candid photos is a great idea but i think the delivery could be improved apon. too many people take thier work too seriously and thier protfolio looks like a generic art school photography website but i like how these guys can make an image of a girl getting a make over look just as amazing as an image of a hardcore singer yelling at the top of his lungs to a sea of outstretched arms. check out the site and leave comments. the guys are totally chill and will most likley respond. if you think they would be into something to photograph send em a message.
