Belton Molotow Premium Spray Paint
so yes i have not updated in a while but i have been being productive. i started a new project for me thats still in the experimental stage as far as techniques go but the idea is strictly old school for me. more on the project at a later date when i have something interesting [ie pictures] to share
so read the extended story for a drawn out post.
but to tie this in to the subject of the post, i am using spray paint for everything. its been a while since i have used a can on a regular basis but it feels good to have paint splattered all over my hands and finger nails for days on end untill it wear off or gets covered by another color. although i was no big street artist with a can at me at all times i did enjoy the occasional late night adventures into a area of the city where we could paint away with less worry of getting caught. but really i didnt have the balls for paint. everything we did was so secluded that if you got caught it was more of an embarrasment than than anything else. i left the real painting up to my neighbors RJ and CELK, who i think still own boston even though they got busted and left town years ago. no one has come close to what those guys did.
but im trailing away from the post. so all through growing up i thought Krylon brand paint was the best and there were no other cans worthy. this was true, krylon was rad and reliable. when i was getting supplies for the project i went in to the local art supply store to get some cans and so a impressivly large stock of Belton brand paint. they were more expensive than krylon [$8 vs $5] but seeing as i was still experimenting i decided to buy my first round of cans of belton. going through the colors i was looking for was a bummer because the only colors there were out of were black, white and a bright yellow. so i got a traffic red can. and had to get strays to fill out the rest of my order. i got a krylon yelow and white and was even further bummed when they were out of krylon black. after finding one can of black paint i grabbed it up only to see that it was a krylon specialty brand called "Kid Safe" or some shit. less oder, scratch resistant and had all the same label shit that the regular krylon cans had. so seeing as how i needed black and this was it, i bought it.
back at the lab i noticed the belton can [which is actually a specialty brand called MOLOTOW DEVIL or some shit] was HUGE, 500ML to be exact. and even had a fat cap in it instead of your average cap. i was bummed when i tried on all my other caps because i needed a thin one, to find non fit the can. i dunno why that was but eh they all fit krylon cans.
so result? the red was amazing. seriously great. bright. better than the color swatch lead me to belive. and i had no drips at all. the paint really adheared well. this later became more impressive to me as i started using the other brands. the krylon yellow performed as i had rememberd. it was ok. i went a little heavy in a few instances and i got some nasty drips where i didnt want em but itll be fine.
but the krylon kid safe..... bullshit. worst paint ever. my other caps didnt fit this oddly sized can either so i went with the stock cap. first spray the shit came out like silly string. after paint began to flow it sprayed out like a fire hose. not like a paint mist. and it sent globs of paint everywhere. so even the coat of paint isnt consistant. and when i peeled the tape off after the paint had dried it got even worse. where i expect dry paint to crack and break when i peel off taped off areas this stuff clung and peeled up. it was very latexy which sucks. worst paint ever and i have learned my lesson. so check out the belton site because that have tons of colors and caps. this is real artist paint not some shit shop paint.

Posted by: your dady at February 13, 2004 06:05 PMI am not one of those who think that the people are never in the wrong. They have been so, frequently and outrageously, both in other countries and in this. But I do say, that in all disputes between them and their rulers, the presumption is at least upon a par in favour of the people.
