it feels good to listen to a band or album you havnt really listened to in a long time. i bought the album "The Shape of Punk to Come" by the band Refused when it came out and loved it. and since then i havnt really listened to it the way i used too. untill recently that is. im finding myself completly hooked again. and the strange thing is the songs i wasnt really into before are the ones i like best now. and the ones i listened to all the time back then are kinda played out now [because i listened to them soo much]
i popped in some refused when i had to redo my entire iTunes playlist section because i trashed the preferences. one of my current favorite bands is The (International) Noise Conspiracy which is headed by the former front man of the now disbanded refused. as i was sorting i put refused and t(i)nc together and decided to revisit my musical past. and hold shit its all ive been listening too since. Refused is hardcore. not this shit punk mtv shit. and its not unlistenable heavy as shit hardcore. its its own thing. it goes back and forth between mellow light or even spoken word to a basic beat straight into an all out screaming guitar blast that makes you want to flip out. and this happens a few times each song. and the content and lyrics are so aggressivly political it makes Rage Against the Machine lyrics sound tame......almost.
i suggest you check some out gets some preview tracks somewheres. or if you have itunes 4 click here if that link dosent work click the green banner on the main page [down to the right]
for starters check out the album The Shape of Punk to Come"
if you want a fast hardcore song you should check "new noise"
my new favorites off that album though are "Tannhauser/Derive" and "The Apollo Programe was a Hoax"
if you enjoy that album i suggest another refused album "Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent"
and if you find it a bit too hardcore i highly recommend The (International) Noise Conspiracy 's album A New Morning, Changing Weather. its punk its poppy, you can dance to it.
and appologies to any iTunes 4 listeners, i am still looking for the rest of my refused/t(i)nc albums to rip so its not a complete discography at present.
hmm..this is quite interesting
