god i love where i live. i guess im lucky because i know a lot of people hate thier area. this is longest ive ever lived in one apartment, three years. i live in cambridge, not boston. i love that distinction. although yeah i pretty much live in boston, when someone asks where i live, its cambridge, not boston. and central square cambridge. the best bart. right inbetween the pillars of this town, MIT and Harvard.
i live 3 blocks from one of if not the best club to see live music. 3 blocks to the subway. 3 blocks to my favorite bar. 4 blocks to the supermarket. it all falls into place.
and getting anywhere worth going in this town is pretty easy from here. the subway takes me right to downtown or north to harvard square. and the bus takes me down mass ave to fenway area.
i used to live in roxbury and while it was funny, seeing your neighborhood on the news every other night as the scene of some shooting wasnt the best. i mean yeah we have shootings and stuff here too but this neighborhood has a good vibe. im glad i dont live in allston. boston must have 60+ colleges here. so you know all those frat douche bags need to have an area to live. i call that area allston. although allston does have some good shit, i wouldnt want to have to ride a packed B train 45 min every day just to go a few blocks to my place.
like i said i have lived here for 3 years. i moved in with some friends from back home. everything has been chill but things change. casey is eventually moving to NYC with his music production company but hell prob move to jamacia plain in the interim. Brian just got engaged. so id expect him to move out and go with his girl. im not too worried about finding roomates that i know. last effort would anon roomate screening. but that is if im allowed to stay. my land lord is good shit. he lives in the apt below us and weve never had problems. i know i have bouced maybe 2 checks since ive been here but ive made up for it. but the tarnish on my record is vouching for some friends that moved in next door. they have bounced a bunch of checks and one of them has dissappeared. she dropped off a check, and went to buffalo to see some friends. now its a month and ten days later and the check she dropped off has bounced and she has missed may 1st rent. so they are getting evicted and my landlord is pissed and i hope that doesnt trickle down to me.
wow i think i just wrote journal type shit. dammit anyway back to where i live:
being near harvard and mit is cool because you meet people that are involved in some crazy shit. the MIT media lab people are the most entertaining, like justin manor. the Miracle of Science Bar and Grill has the best food too. not just in my area but thats where the best hamburgers in the city are. fuck bartley's. that place is packed all the time because people hear its the best and go there. but MOSBAG is the best.
another thing about cambridge is that you will see the craziest looking homless dude yelling shit to air above him. all dirty and shuffling papers and really just....insane looking. and then later its possible to find out that that very same crazy bum is a MIT/Harvard professor. or maybe a student that has cracked. its funny but i am serious its true. you see a lot of wackos and then someone say, " oh yeah i heard of that guy. he was the smartest guy here untill he cracked". how fucking rad is that?
its also funny since starting this blog and looking up local blogs with the GEOurl thing, i see pantloads of blogs in my neighborhood. i think cambridge must have the higest blog per square block out of anywhere.
all in all if i do get kicked out im gonna look around in this neighborhood. although prices of places are going WAAAY up , my luck ill end up in EAST cambridge :P
its just really cool find find a place that feels like home.
